SHE RUNS!!, but...
got it running bad h2o pump, carbs were gummed up pretty bad. but all in all it looks good.
however, when i gun it every now & then it backfires thru the exhaust, i’m thinking timing. the linkage for the mechanical advance looks new and none of the adjustments for it were tight. any one have an idea what the base timing and total advance should be? i’m familiar with the merc. 4-stroke stuff (34* total), would this be similar? or am i way off? any help is greatly appreciated.
oh, and i was wrong in my fist post, it’s a DT-140 not a TC-140, if that maters.

Get the Merc Manual and do it right. If you go to far with it you will blow her up. Also make sure that all your bleeder hoses are connected to the correct area and none of them have cracks in them.
