Default 454 mpi 385 horse how much horsepower can one make

I have two 454 mpi 385 horse and am wondering how much horse power can these create with a cam change some gil manifolds (dry to the tips) fuel regulator and reprograming the computer. Thanks for any ideas. Eric

At best with the OEM intake plenum on that model about 500hp without a supercharger. That is pending you pick the right cam, exhaust compression ration, head work and ECM calibration. Jamie / Lakeside

a friend on donzi.net just freshened his with the stock cam and a procharger...on the dyno @ 4400 rpms it showed 560 hp and 640 ft lbs of tq..he couldnt go past 5 k because the guy that programed the ecm didnt turn up the rev limiter so it put the labosch on that dtno pull..their is still more hp left in the engine..

Mike, You are correct, over 500 is easily obtained with boost. I have done it many times as have others.. But I think he was asking what he can get without boosting.. Jamie / Lakeside

I believe 550/525 (or close) is what Tyler Crockett claims in his 502/454 MAG MPI upgrade package. More can be had with better heads & intake work.
