B1 coupler?
I had a 330 hp 7.4 with B1. Swaping to 425hp 454. The coupler that came on the 7.4 was merc part #18643A, 3 bolts holding to the flywheel. Will this coupler be strong enough for the 425hp? I am thinking while the engine is sitting on a stand to replace it only if the 3 bolt style is not strong enough. The coupler looks perfect, splines are square, ect. I would hate to break the bolts loose underway, seems like you could do some heavy damage.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Mine lasted almost 20 years with a pair of 502/390s, that were replaced with 502/500s. The 390s were in for 12 years and the 500s were in for six. When I sold the boat, they were still fine. Keeping the right grease on them and keeping the props in the water is everything. My new boat (to me) had a bad one after eight years, from running dry.

Ted G good try. I like your style.
I may buy it for a spare when my craps out.
I am gonna run what I got for now. Its not too hard to jerk my engine.
Thanks,
LC
