Question Bravo Upper Drive trim guide crack repair

The tab is cracked on my Bravo upper lower unit, the tab that rubs againts the gimbal when trimming.

This was caused by a steering malfunction (not from wear and tear)

Can that be welded?

My understanding, if properly done, it can be welded stronger than the original design.

How much torque is on that?

I machined a couple of blocks like those for a buddy who's broke at the same place to reinforce the load there. Makes it 1 solid area. As far as I know they are doing the trick.

Thanks for letting me know, I appreciate it.

How big are those blocks?

And I assume aluminum?

Since I'm having mine welded at the same time, I'll get them to make something up like you did.

Anything that I should point out that there should be clearance for? (Probably obvious when on the gimbal, but not when apart)

Thanks

P.S. Any chance you have a pic of the block?

They were a copy of the Max Marine ones, no pics. Yes, Aluminum.
