Default Remote oil filter

I'd like to move the oil filter off of the engine altogether if I can (how far can you go?). If possible, I'd also like the filter to screw UP against the cast piece instead of screwing DOWN onto it. Seems like it would make it alot less messy at oil change time. This is for a 383 small block application. Am I stuck with the Mercury setup?

i Think you can put it wherever you want. Mine is on a home made bracket with ss lines. No oem merc setup for me!

Just takes more oil. I probably wouldnt reccomend putting it miles away.

I used this kit and mounted it on the transom wall where I could easily access it. Comes with 8' total of hose, you could add more if going further- just remember it increases your oil capacity so be sure to add more when changing the oil.
