I believe Cobalt is installing Kicker speakers and amps in their new boats. Cobalt usually does not install junk.

Even though MB Quart still exists, the original MB Quart is now German Maestro. I have a 6.5 inch set of German Maestro speakers in my car and they are the best speakers I have ever had in my car. They sound great without woofers. I have not heard them, but German Maestro makes a 10" marine sub with dual tweeters. They are a $1000 a pair. You can look at them a www.bicostereo.com. I think they may be the only dealer in the United States.

I just got through installing two 10" Kickers and 4 Infinity Kappas and I'm pushing them with an Alpine PDX-5M 5channel amp. My head unit is a Kenwood KTS-MP400MR with a wired remote I installed on my dash. The receiver is in the cabin so I use the remote to run it from the cockpit. The Kickers are still tight cause I haven't had a chance to run it much, but I (and my buds) were extremly impressed with the sound. The Kappas aren't marine rated, but I got them at a really good price on sonicelectronics along with all the other stuff.

The PDX-5M advertised 300w rms on its mono channel so I went with the KM-10s at 150w rms (x2) to fit the amp. When I got the amp...it actually tested at near 500w rms. I would have gone with the L3s if I had known the actual rating on the amp before hand.

Memphis all the way! Had 2 10" subs, 2 6 1/2's and 2 8's. Nice thing is they make up to a 8" mid range and the tweeters are adjustable which is great on a boat where the speakers end up on the floor pointing at your feet. Used a 600watt 5 channel memphis amp to power them all. Very efficient and inexpensive using one amp, could run all day on one battery. 3 seasons and it worked perfectly when I sold the boat, and I beat on it pretty hard....
would do the same system again in the next boat.....

I have had good luck with Clariion Marine amps: they at least seem to last a long time, at least if they dont get submerged. I have not had as good luck with any marine speakers- they all seem to go bad after 3-4 years even though I dont run them hard. They seem to get cone degredation - probably due to sun / heat exposure in the cockpit even though I keep it covered when not in use.
