Get some decent vests. Do a smaller run first so you get the idea and make sure you enjoy it before dropping the 3k for one of the bigger ones. Dont be intimidated by the bigger boats and all the hype. Go out and have fun and remember there is always someone bigger and badder so dont break your shiyat trying to hang and ruin your weekend(;

Florida Powerboat Club...Fun Run from Naples Bay to Ft Myers Bch Friday, Sat is poker run down to Everglades City..they are doing the "Taste of Collier" at Bayfront on Sunday, but I am going to go to Keywadin instead. They are all staying at Naples Bay Resort which is two canals over from where I live.

Cool to far south for me I have heard great things about Keywadin. enoy

As far as speed the big events can be a little intimidating with all those 140mph boats around. Not to scare you by any means since its not a race and no one will mind. More boats the better. Some new guys will go out and try and tangle with them or be too aggresive and it creates bad situations. Bumped boats etc. A smaller one will feel more like a day out with friends. I do a lot of fun runs and everyone has been so nice and open. Plus they are usually far cheaper(:

As you are following the pace boat stay to the far right or left of the pack. When it's go time you don't want to be caught in the middle of the pack doing 65mph and trying to get out of the way.
