I'm not, it was just for test fitting purposes. However, I would think the exhaust going down a Y-pipe is just as hot as the exhaust going out the tips.

I know what you mean but the hose doesn't seem as strong to me. I'd still get the silicon hose for the tips.

Question: since I am going to run the headers instead of manifolds, I guess I will have to get a set of header gaskets instead of the stock manifold gaskets. Will a standard automotive style header gasket work OK, or am I going to need to spring the bucks for one of the fancy copper or metal gaskets?

I would love to get the silicon hose, but can't justify spending $140 for 3 feet of it and then only use less than half of it. This thing is milking me dry as it is.
