Counter clockwise engine fireing order ?
I just bought another Chris craft. A 28 I with twin screws. Starboard engine turns to the left from front of 350 ci, rotor turns to the right when looking down at distributor. The only way I could get it running was wires going to the left from # 1. This does not make sense, also it did not run right. Kinda rough like order is incorrect. it did idle. What is the fireing order
of a left hand rotation motor with rotor that turns to the right. I have wires currently going to the left from # 1 = 18436572. What am I doing wrong. Or is the fireing order differant do to the direction. These are 1982 350 OMC in a chris craft. Thanks

The firing order is the same, left or right. Look on the intake manifold for the firing order. On either engine, go in the direction the distributor rotor turns. Trick is make sure you start with the number one cylinder on the distributor cap. In other words, turn the engine over until you find top dead center on the number one cylinder, both intake an exhaust valves closed, compression stroke. which ever post on the cap the rotor is pointing to is number one. Hope this helps.

NOTING FOR NOTHING, but the rotor has to turn the same direction on both engines.If not, the oil pump just blows bubbles in the pan!try this 12756348 and see if it works Paul

A little clarifaction. TRS drives all use standard rotation. Rotation change is done with different lower unit RH LH. All standard rotating engines and counter rotating engines spin camshaft same dirrection. How this is done is as previously stated. A liitle more info though. Standard using timing chain turns cam and crank same direction.
Counter rotaion uses two gears cam turns orig direction while crank turns opposite hence couter rataing engine. Same cams cranks oil pumps etc. The only difference being gears on crank and cam.
For some of you out there that wonder why some gear sets are used on standard rotation engines they use a idler gear to get crank going same direction as cam.

jaf302 has the proper firing order,remember that to advance the timing you turn the dist the opposite direction.And you work off the other side of the time mark on the damper. Doug

i have same thing with firing order
i have the same thing as B38 , did the engine ever get running properly ? my engine was running with the backward firing order, but would cut out at about 3600 rpm . should be getting a llot more . i am puzzeled
