Is there a rev limiter on a 1988 454 330 hp motor w/thunder bolt ignition
I had swap the ignition parts of my old 1988 330 to put on my new motor.
New motor started out as a 1991 365 mag upgrade to 420hp @5000 rpm and 470 flbs @ 3500 on the dyno.
Will I be able to run my old ignition system from the 330 on the new motor.
Will that ignition go above 5200 rpm?
Any feedback on this issue would be great.
Thanks!!

There should be no limiter on the 88' ignition. Thunderboldt IV. I've run my 89' ignition up to 5600 rpms. I'm sure it would keep going but , my motor would not.
Good Luck

Nobudget, what cam did you end up going with???? and what else did you do to the engine???? The numbers sound right at what I was estimatingmy hp to be with my cam and set up.
BTW No rev limiter on a TB IV ignition. I'm spinning mine at 5400.
