Default Change to synthetic oil?

Hey guys,

As you know the boat is a '93 check convincor 251 with a carbed Mercruiser 502ci and a bravo 1. I was wondering if I can/should switch the motor over to synthetic oil. I was talking to the local parts guy at the marine shop and he said not to switch to synthetic since the motor is old. The motor was rebuilt about 110 hrs ago, I just wanted to get a second opinion from you guys.

Thanks again,

Seth

Which one of those would you recommend? Glad to hear I can switch over, I thought that parts guy seemed a little odd....

I switched my '94 7.4 over two years ago, at 196 hours. Running M1 15W50, no issues at all.

Do you guys normally buy oil and fluids online or just go to the local marine shop? Any good online websites that sell for a discount?

Thanks,

Seth
