I am redoing the cockpit of my boat and it currently has a pirelli floor on it. I want to replace it with either a new Pirelli floor or teak but the problem is I don't want to damage the cockpit floor while removing the pirelli flooring. Is there a good way to get it out with an adheasive remover or something else?

Also theres a crack/speration in the flooring that I'm not sure if it was meant to be there or not anyone have an idea what might be going on?

It should just pull up fairly easily. I pulled mine up in my Pantera then put it back down. I have never seen Pirelli look as bad as what you have though. It looks very brittle and may come apart as you pull it up. Mine had a paper like backing and it came up very easily. Those cracks are not supposed to be there.

Its actually pretty solid unfortunately. Its had carpet on top of it for some amount of time which makes it look yellowed and in worse shape than it actually is. It looks like it's 2'x2' tiles that were glued down somehow. They dont peel back at all...

Lowes is selling a new to market scraper that goes into a sawzall. They have been using a version of this tool for years in the auto body/glass industry to remove winsdsheilds. This would probably work great for you.

Thanks that looks like it will help a ton. I started using a wallpaper scrapper like this one but quickly figured out it wasn't enough.

I got started again going at the floor and with the Spyder and the heat gun its coming off with out a problem. Thanks for the advice guys!

It also looks like the cracks that a saw coming through the pirelli floor is just the outlines of access panels to what I'm guessing would be the fuel tanks.

but did you finish this project? I'd really like to see some pics. I'm considering doing this to the floor on my rage and putting in snap in carpet mats. It looks like the texture of the floor would allow for water to flow under the mats towards the bilge.

If anyone else has recommendations for a project like this please chime in.
