Superchargers...Whipple 4.0 or 5.0 vs Roots 14-71
#21
Yes, I understand.....it's just that a good smooth idle/drivability quaility is very important to me. There are places I go boating that require long idling periods....like 45-60 minutes and I do not want the engines loading up, etc. Besides, it's just what I prefer and like.

I may only boat about 12 times a season if that, but you're right....actually, Fuel Injection is another interesting item----it's only another $10-12k or so. Being that I am new to the supercharging world and that I already have the 14-71's and carbs from purchasing the boat, I think I am going to see if I can make it all work based on all the discovered information I have found in the last few days. And I'm still learning.

Can someone explain the difference between a Whipple 4.0 vs their 5.0 ??? Keep in mind this must be for a dual carbed version. I have looked on the Whipple website, but unless I didn't navigate it properly, I could not find anything on the 4.0 as I did with their 5.0 and I am currently doing more searches within the archives of OSO about Whipples and the experience others have had with them.
Roots version. Thanx

I'd keep your 14/71's, spend the money you'd save on the Whipple's on EFI, get a cam from Bob, and idle smooth all day with reliable power. Just my opinion.
