Cylinder head advice for 383 build
I've searched and read some older threads about which heads might work best for my application. This engine will be going in a 98 Glastron gs205 20' boat with a volvo penta sx cobra. The bottom end is a 98 4 bolt main 350 with a forged scat stroker and rods.
The new EQ heads look pretty good but i can't decide between the 180cc or the 200cc heads. I'd like for this engine to make at least 350 to 380 H.P. with all the torque i can get from the bottom clear up to 5,300 RPM
Would the 200cc vortec heads be over kill? I'd be perfectly happy with the 180cc heads if they would get the job done. Head and piston selection have me held up. I don't want more compression than needed to run on pump gas and i can get these heads with 64 or 72cc combustion chambers. Thanks for any help.

I ran Trickflow sbc heads on my 383 . The combo i had made a 1988 21' FourWinns Horizen run a solid 68 m.p.h. on radar . The marine industry has really advanced since way back then . If you really want facts and not give Bob Madara a call at Marine Kinetics . 585-654-8583 you will not be sorry !!!

Just got off the phone with him and he took all the guess work out of it. The EQ heads with 180cc runners are the way to go for the rpm's i'm looking at. He will be grinding a camshaft for it also.
