On my old boat thats what seemed to happen more acid the quicker it comes back especially in brackish water.. I try to wax the front deep vee it keeps it white, i leave the far bottom a lttle yellow

Well, he's right. You would be better to take some 400grit sand paper to it than wax.

A friend of mine lost 2mph until it wore off.
You want the bottom of the boat to have a rough feeling. You want to create bubbles that aerate the bottom. My boat being an f1 race boat was sanded on the running surface.
The wax makes the water sticky and it holds to the surface.

I waxed the bottom of my Cigarette Top Gun and gained 4 mph. It was my best speed in 8 years. The water was rough.
I guess when the water is rough , you don't need bubbles.
