4 of the mounting bolt holes are located in a different place then the standard big block setup.

You can use the new CMI Gen X header. It has both the standard and 525 efi bolt pattern.

Hardin Marine also offers their Hurricane and Typhoon headers that are replacements for the 525 headers. THey make a REALLY nice piece. I have used quite a few sets of the Hurricane big tube headers and love them. I really love that they are about half of what CMI gets.

Wink

Putting another good design header on a HP525efi engine is not going to result in reversion as the 525efi stock engine does not revert. Any BBC marine header will bolt up to the HP525efi head with a couple of new exhaust flange holes drilled in the header flange to match the Mercury head. So E-tops so drilled would bolt up after this mod and work just fine. You would loose a little horsepower and torque but they will work. Both Dana and Stainless Marine have manifolds and headers modified to fit this engine as well as Hardin Marine has a set of headers that fit and CMI has the GEN X headers to fit this application with any of these not needing re-drilling or such. The Hardin, CMI, and Dana should not result in any loss of power or torque.
