Tuning Mefi Lake Ozarks
#11
I know you didn't mean anything against me by your post. No problem hear buddy. I would just like to help if I can to get you running right. I don't want any engines of mine running poorly, no matter the circumstances. My point was that it could be anything since they have been around. Lord knows how many people have had their hands on them since they were built. I can't imagine that there is anything seriously wrong. I'm sure it's something simple.
If by some chance I get to the lake, I'll be sure to give you a shout. Talk soon.

Would you please get back to finishing my motors.....

Eddie.
Just an FYI. This winter I pulled the motors and drives off of that envision and put them into a '97 fountain fever. I was glad to see the envision go because it was never going to be a fast boat.
It has been a struggle to find the right props.
The labed 28s would spin well over 6000 if you wanted them to. who knows how hight they would go.
Stock 30 4 blades went 5650 @ 86MPH
Stock 32 4 blades went 4900 @ 85PMH
The numbers just dont make sense to me. that seems like big rpm drop in 2 in of prop.
What should that boat run with the right props and RPM at 5400 with those motors?

When you compare your labbed 28's to stock 30's its more like comparing stock 26's to 30's as the labbing unless extra cup has been added usually makes prop rev higher. When you go from the 30's to the 32's you are probably seeing the big rpm drop because once you pull the motor out of its power band you might lose rpm's exponentially( IE- prop drops motor from 5600 to 5200 because of prop change but motor is making less hp there so drop is compounded further). Do you know where the power band is on these motors, cam might have been changed since assembly. IF 5650 is actually too high then lab the 32's to get where you want, Smitty

Couldn't have possibly said it any better than Smitty.
If memory serves me, those engines made peak power at5500 rpm. I want to say that they made like 635-640 hp. It's been a LONG time and I don't have the dyno sheets. They were washed away by Katrina since I was still in La. when those were built.
