Default How stiff is your MM steering??

I have a Marine Machine full hyd, power steering set up with dual ext rams on a single bravo boat. (24 Python)

The steering seems too hard to me but I have never driven any other boat with the same type of steering set up.

It takes 2 hands to steer, no matter what the rpm, and idle speed is really tough. Lock to lock is about 3 full turns.

Need some input from others or maybe some tips.

Thanks in advance. FT

Take a look at the helm and see what model it is. If it is a large capacity, it will make the steering hard. How many turns lock to lock is there? I had the same problem with my steering.. started out with about 1.5 LtoL and with a smaller helm ended up at 3 LtoL.. made life much easier..

Hope that helps.

I can spin my Marine Machine steering with 1 finger. Full hyd, twins and about 3 turns lock to lock.

Do you have a fluid reservoir besides whats in the PS pump?????

Ok, after doing some more reading on OSO----I will be checking the in-line filter and maybe removing it as a test. Maybe it is clogged or too restrictive.

I'll post results when done.

Thanks, FT

I have MM full hydraulic dual ram and it's a little stiff at idle but not bad. Anything over 2000 rpm and it's smooth and easy.
