wow, gonna revive this thread just to thank everyone who posted.
To Ray, it was not a joke, and I again at that time knew very little about "hey this is a dry jet boat motor" can I stick it in a wet exhaust area".
the cam spec so you guys DO knew for the future duration 308 intake 314 exhaust. 575/575. 112 LSA Brodix BB2x's. heads cleaned and matched to a victor jr with a 950cfm holley, just a hair under 12:1. After talking to some other marine engine places it was determined ( like you all stated) that I needed CMI's or something full header like. I found a used set and it turned out great (after the plumbing nightmare). I ended up getting the boat finished only to sell it back to the original owner after it's first lake trip LOL. onto bigger and better things. I do think the cam was a bit too big, but once in that 3500-5500rpm range the boat PULLED HARD. around the docks....not so happy had to set the idle higher than I like.
