I think that combo of ci and heads with right cam and carb Will do 550-575 if cam is right.. May be a little more if you spin it past 5400 in a car situation when you can spin them 6000 or more its easy to break 600 hp

I would sell your engines buy a boat with bigger engines and sell what's left... Cheaper the. Building two strokers...start with gen6 502 base and go from there... The engines I have seen power wise 454 stroked to 496 don't make that much more power vs cost and low rpm.... Car world different.....

I just went from 460 ci with Merlin heads and single plane intakes to my 547's by buying another boat for them had to redo heads since the idiot did not use inconel... I woulda broke even otherwise and had free engines Trans and drives by selling other boat and leftover parts... I have 3900.00 into it now and I can't build on e short lock for that... And I do my own work....

My exhaust is EMI Revolution Marine. No pic right now.
The cam was originally recommended to me by Crane many years back. But I keep thinking I coulda gone bigger. But, you gotta keep in mind that my exhaust is below the water line.
I'm not building 2 strokers now, I'm only building one. Long story why, but mainly because the one engine is a car engine and i want to rebuild it before it lets loose.

Only real difference car/marine is brass freeze plugs and in most cases a tad more bearing clearance... Internals are all same the the 330/365 use cast parts the 400/420 uses forged it won't let loose unless you do things wrong... Cast is fine till approx 500hp and approx 5300 rpm... They can last still but pushing limits t that point... My last engines had cast cranks made almost 480 hp and I ran the **** out of them they are still fine 80 psi oil pressure under way.. 40 idle hot

I did already put brass freeze plugs in it... I guess what i meant is that I want to build this one because it's completely bone stock bottom end and the starboard engine is not. So when i dropped this motor in, i lost almost 10 MPH. So, I could bring this motor up to spec of the starboard engine, but for just a few bucks more I would rather stroke it (since I don't like the cast crank that's in there). I'm pretty afraid of cast cranks... my last port engine was a forged crank, and I pulled it out in two pieces. btw... Full Force... you're Tim, right?

The starboard engine is originally a 454 Mag 370 hp, but it's been rebuilt by a race shop in Buffalo (Jan-Cen). It's got forged internals, same top end as the port engine, but 9.5:1 compression pistons, 460 cid. So basically it's got a good 75 hp more built into it. If I build the port motor to be a stroker motor, then I want to build a third motor to match it and have the starboard engine as a spare. Nothing worse then having an engine crap out and ruing 3 weeks of an already short summer (as you can attest).

Yea not sure it's a 75 hp difference but a few yes... Yea short summers suck I am on week 5 but the Trans issue was my fault I took a chance and lost I shoulda had it done knowing it went low on fluid...

Harmonics are number one thing to kill boat engine....balancing is very important

Did you change your mind on buying the other boats you told me you were looking at?
