Prop size on 265 force?
I'm about to buy an 88 Baja 265 force, I think it has a 19p prop on it right now but think I should change it. It has a bbc that's been rebuilt a couple times and now has some good parts in it and a 850 Holley on it. I think it has 500 hp but is a heavy boat. I'd like to get the most out of the boat all around. I wanna have the top speed there if I feel like it but dont wanna sacrifice too much at lower speeds or taking off cause that's where I will spend most of my time. Thanks

always always always run the prop that is on the boat first to get a baseline for what you want to change to. you need speed and wot rpm readings to compare. but i think you will find the boat is propped correctly. a 265 force looks the part of a perf boat, but is big and heavy. you would need 450 or more hp to run a 21 or longer pitch prop on that beastie...

Thanks I will try to get some wot numbers whenever I take the boat out. I'm pretty sure the boat is running close to 500 hp though, what should be the max rpm I should be seeing with that 19p? And what do you think my max rpm should be without hurting the motor? Thanks and I know that she is a heavy boat I just want the most out of her.
