350 cu in merc efi's
Neighbor a has a pair of 350's in his boat.They run fine! BUT starboard motor will not run more than 3000 rpm when the throttle is wide open.Happened all of a sudden.But motor runs fine won't go past 3000 rpm.Other motor NP.Starbord motor starts, idles and runs to 3000 rpm perfect any IDEAS not up on this electronic stuff!!!!!!HELP. Do a search on this... Apparently the ECM goes into "limp home" mode (cuts max rpm) if it detects any one of the sensors showing warning signs (ie oil pressure low). Prob one of the sensors is bad. He needs a code reader to see if there are faults recorded on the ECM. There is also a thread on here on how to make your own (very simple). If that doesnt help, he could start swapping sensors to find the fault, rather than throwing money at it.

Can you reset the comp by disconnecting the battery to re set it if it is in limp mode.have not been able to find the thread that tells how to make that tester. JOHN SR
