Default Best spot for Fuel Vent

Re did my boat and now have a smooth hull. I have seen some smaller boats where it is vented on the back of the boat others above the rub rail and some below, Any insight?

Make sure when run the vent hose off the vent, it goes up and loops back down to the tank to prevent water from getting in your fuel tank. If that makes sense
