How much timing? Octane?
Getting ready to fire my engines for the first time after 7 years in dry dock and need some advice on how much timing I should run. Here are the specs:
454 BBC
rectangular port iron factory heads
hydraulic flat tappet turbo cams from comp cams
static compression of 7.5:1
twin draw thru turbos.
The engines make up to 15 PSI of boost with the waste gates in their current settings
I have wide band O2's on each engine
MSD 6Al with turbo timing masters.
Questions are
How much timing total should I have?
How many degrees per PSI of boost should I pull?
What octane fuel should I run?
I was going to fill the main tank with 93 octane from the local gas station.
I can also turn down the boost.
Here is a picture of what I am dealing with.

with iorn heads id limit the boost to 8 or 9 lbs of boost and 33 deg of timing,i am not a big fan of pulling timing as boost goes up because the exhaust gas temp will go sky hi and that is hard on the exh valves,even if they are inconal.i like the turbo setup,and had a similar setup at one time.
