Unhappy Blew up my Procharger

I ran my boat yesterday, everything was going good until after about a hour of driving playing up and down with the rpms at 3,000-4,000. When suddenly, it felt like someone roped me and pulled me back, when I lowered it to the neutral position smoke was coming out of the exhaust and oil pressure dropped from 40-20, charger was spitting oil through the outlet and inlet holes where the hose that goes to the intercooler popped off, the more you reved it the more the oil came out. Pulled the belt off the charger and everthing went back to normal, everything was were it was supposed too temp, oil pressure, etc.. except the charger which was beeming hot for a while. Thing is every guage was showing everything to be normal, even the boost, no signs or indications of something going wrong. I have a M1 intercooled 12 rib system getting around 7.5 psi on a fully worked and prepped carbed 383 blower motor. My question is where should I gofrom here now? A rebuilt, an upgrade to an M2 or SC model or what?

Bummer those things have awarranty is it still within that time period? If not I would call Procharger and wait on hold for about like an hour and seee what they have to say I used to run M 1 's on a customers 502 efi's and never had the slightest problem running them right up to their maximum rpm limit switch to carbed M 4 systems now

Sounds like the seals that keep the oil in the trans went south. The impellor threw the oil into the intake and hence the smoke.

Give Pro Charger a call. They'll tell you to send it back I'm sure.

My buddy just blew up his second procharger. After the first one broke he called procharger to *****, and they didn't do anything for him.....made him pay 2200 for a new one. Well that one blew last week too !!
I haven't talked to him yet to find out what procharger said about the situation.

Probably lost the bearings. I have 2, M1 12 rib Prochargers. I did the bearings on one last year. Today I discovered that the other is now bad. I can't say this is Prochargers fault since I bought them used.
