357 w/kaamas How Fast?

I have and 86 formula 357 w/kaama surface drives
The boat is powered by 454ho's approx 475-500hp
This is the first boat I've owned with the kaama
set-up seems to be pretty bulletproof. Hoping
someone can tell me what kind of speed to expect
from this heavy pig. The props are the original
kaama 4 blades. Also wondering how far to trim
the drives at wot? Thanks for any input.

I have a f riend that is running in the mid to high 70's with a 30 footer with 502EFI's. So I would guess you would be in the mid to lower 70's???

I have a 302 w/Kaamas and a pair of fairly decent 468's. My boat has been 78.6 on GPS. I would have to say that with the additional weight, you would be looking to be in the 72-74 range.

As far as trim goes. I am assuming your drive are turning in like mine. I have found that boat has alot of stern lift with alot of the boat being wet, and that to get top speed out of it, you have trim it well past the "max" mark on the indicators.

The last bit of trim, at least on my boat, gives quite a bit additional speed. If I trim mine to the "max"indicator, I only see about 69-70 MPH at about 4800 rpm. Another 1/4 of trim brings it up to 76-78 at 5500 rpm. The boat does feel a little gittery however and takes a little practice to get used to it.
