Default Mercury / APBA valve covers on OEM steel heads & roller rockers?

having some clearance issuse with a 454 and the mercury racing APBA valve covers (old style w/ chrome insert).

What is the best/quickest fix for making these work? They clear no problem on another engine with aftermarket heads but will not fit on OEM steel heads with the same crane roller rockers.

Didn't get a chance to take much time with it last night but figured someone on here already has it figured out.

Thoughts?

Are the rockers with the corners ground down in the correct position?

I'd have to double check, upper left if I remember right.

Noticed when I pulled the fill cap the rockers seem to extend pretty far up into the valvecover. Not sure if a gasket thickness would be enough, these are pretty low profile

I have a couple of sets of BBC valve cover spacers that I would let go for $100 per set.

PM me if interested
