Default whipple adapter plate question

I have a whipple quadrotor 2.3 that sits on an adapter plate. The adapter plate, I understand, then bolts to the studs on the intake manifold. I am trying to figure out if I can use/buy a particular used intake manifold, and am told by certain others that I may need a specific intake manifold because "the bolt pattern may be different". Apparently it affects the front to back alignment of the entire set-up on the engine, and "belts may not line up". Does this make sense? I would have thought that the bolt patterns on all components would be standardized. If it helps, the intake I am looking to use/buy had a single 5.0 whipple on top of it. Thanks.

I talked with Dustin about that same subject & he told me the bolt spacing on blower lower intake manifolds are all the same. I also have a littlefield 10/71 set up that bolts to an adaptor plate but that is because of the length of the blower. Randy
