I have built several 496 strokers.
Used Edelbrock Air Gap and Holley 750DP.

I have a Weiand Stealth that that I have been running on my 600HP 454's that has been welded up and ported that I am going to be selling. It makes good power.

Let me know if your interested. I see your local

An Air Gap would also be a decent choice.

I would use either an HP500 Dart Intake or an Air Gap Intake and an HP500(800cfm Holley #9022) carb.

I ran a performer rpm and a dart on my mild 454 a couple years back and lost 1 mph with the dart. I would go with the rpm air gap personally if I was to do it again. For the rpm of your cam I believe a single plan would not benifit you. I was seeing 5800 with my combo back then. Just my opinion though. As for carb, I like the Holley 850 Dp (marine). I ran a 750 Dp on mine (with less cylinder. head).....and it was sweet!

Air gap intake. The best carb setup for a 496 in that rpm range is a Holley with a 750 main body and an 850 base plate. I had mine custom made/cnc'd for $900 is was absolutely perfect on my 496...

I am finishing a warmed up 502 now and I used the rpm air gap. I have saved some dyno sheets comparig the air gap to the victor jr. from the web but a good 454 saw 20hp more at 3,400 rpm..... 30 HP at 3,900rpm and 20 lt/lbs better which was the largest gain and after 4,000 rpm the gains dismiss but the Air gap does better than the single plane all the way to 5,400 rpm and then the single plane is stronger by 10 HP and tq at 5,700................ This was using a typical camshaft of a nice, performance marine engine would use.

I would say the 496 would like the air gap and make more torque where you need it and make getting up on the plane easier.

I forgot to mention that the dyno test usEd a 1" open spacer...... TBF
