Default How to remove exhaust hose?

Anybody have any advice on how to easily remove 4" exhaust hose from a 454 mag with the silent choice diverters? the hose seems to be stuck on their pretty tight. And it's not very soft or pliable.

Also, any advice to reinstall new hose? Soap and water? other lubricant?

I have to remove my header/ exhaust manifold to get mine off. As far as putting them back on, I just wipe a thin layer of grease, but any lubricant will do. It will burn off once it gets hot.

Default fixx

if you plaln on replacing them just take a razor knofe and cut a slit in them and get under it with a hose tool and brake loose were its melted on..when installing the new hose get soft wall hose,,i just use a little water to slide the hose on,,its real easy to slide the new hose on..

On my 454 mag mpi's it was less of a fight for me to un-bolt the riser. Then did a little inspection. Put the new hose on and the weight of the riser made it easy to make the slight bend to reinstall the riser back on the manifold. Fighting the hose sucks.

you hafta take one end or the other off. then take a small screwdriver and jam it between hose and riser or hose and exh tip. spray WD40 or similar down opening made by screwdriver. work screwdriver around outside of riser-inside of hose continuing to spray WD in it. once you go all way around it'll come off. the hose glues itself to whatever it is clamped on real good over time.

A heat gun can make the job much easier too.
