Default Another Help on Cam Choice Thread

Gen V 454, Don't know much about the rotating assy. two valve releifs in a flat top piston
Have 300 CC Oval port Aluminum heads 1.88 2.21 stainless 1 piece valves with springs set up for Hydraulic roller Camshaft to about .620 lift
Air Gap oval port intake
Roller Rockers
Going with Holley 850 DP Carb
IMCO Powerflow manifolds and risers, but have captains call

My first choice is the 139011 731 Camshaft, but I worry about reversion and don't want to have to do a cam swap twice. I'm trying to do everything right.
Can anyone say for sure the 731 won't revert? If not, then I think that cam is out.

But I did find!
Crane 139771 Almost the exact same thing as the 139011 Except it has a 114 LSA

dur. at .050 230/236
lift .598/.610
LSA 114

Would this one be reversion safe? (actually, I just checked it after typing this, it only has 1 degree less of overlap (using .050 dur values) than the 731, is that a big difference?)

Other options are:

comp cams 295-112508
dur. at .050 223/230 Lift .566/.575 LSA 114

Lunati
•Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 221/229
•Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .575/.575
•LSA/ICL: 112/106

Lunati
•Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 234/244
•Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .575/.575
•LSA/ICL: 114/112

The latter seeming like the best chioce if my previous first choice won't work

Any other options?

I think you should be fine with the 731 ground on a 114 LSA.
The 525EFI uses a 741 ground on a 114 LSA and I haven't read about any reversion issues with it.

If you have a step nose cam (retainer plate) those numbers will be different.

I do not have a retainer plate. Both of the Crane cams say I need to use a cam button.

114 lsa will not revert. I would use a smaller carb. An 850hp bbc only uses 800cfm to make that horsepower.
