Default 454 base timing

i have a 95 wellcraft nova spyder 23 bravo one 454
wot 4200
55-58mph
23 pitch prop

thunderbolt 4 ignition im doing a tune up, plugs wires cap rotor, just wondering what the base timing should be?? i run 89 octane also what timing at what rpm should i see to check the advance is working properly

8 Degrees BTDC is what is says on the tag on Merc 454's

It depends on what 454 engine and which ignition module it has.
If it has a V8-24 module,like most, base should be 8* and ful advance should be 32* at 3750rpms.
You could also bump it to 10* and 34* with no issues.
