Default Snap on timing gun on 502 mag??

I've got 97 502 magnum mpi's with msd cap rotors and coils. I am trying to time these motors with a snap on eetl500 timing gun but the gun keeps crashing freezing restarting etc. anyone have any experience with this gun? I talked to snap on the tech says its cause its a boat..... Don't understand that one. I wanted a good brand name gun with advance cause to time it I'm laying on the running motors

cant use a digital gun with msd systems. it will cook your nice expensive timing light!!!!! been there done that... you have to use a old school light. my snapon light has the dial on the back for advance and retard. sometimes the fancy digital stuff doesnt work with the old school stuff lol

I blew up several of the digital ones on high capacity ignitions and now have the same older one with the dial. it has never let me down in 10 years.

That's a good deal! -Sold a ton of those MT241's when I was a Snappy dealer. Great light.

I have a high dollar digital snap on when I put it on an ignition with any kind of spark it jumps all over turns off ect. Works great on stock stuff but that's about it. What a piece of junk.
