Default Electrical Question for Wellcraft NOVA III

Working on a 1986 Wellcraft NOVA III and this electrical box shorted out. Having trouble finding out what this box does. Anyone have any ideas? Since it shorted out the Starboard engine turns over but the port does not and port gauges do not come on when the key is turned on. It was located under the dash and the appears to be the only one. I am going to chase the wires down for it tomorrow but just wanted some ideas.

Thanks

I'm curious to see the answer to this. I've never seen that before. Assuming a plug went into rectangular port. Are those spade terminals and had wires on them? May be some sort of interface that has already been deleted off stbd main.

It looks like some sort of resistor to me with the cooling heat sink. You may have to do some research like finding the specs on this gizmo on a label of sorts. Maybe even a manufacturer of this device that you could contact.

Let us know.
