Oil Temp Increase with remote oil filter

Replaced my stock remote oil filter on 502 mag with a teague universal mount oil filter. At the same time replaced the oil temp sender that mounts in the new filter mount. Went out today and instead of my oil temp running 240-250 at 3500 to WOT my oil temp is now reading 305. My oil pressure is 50-60 whiuch is about normal. I ran a ground wire and atached it to the l bracket of the mount. red wire attached to end of sender as original.

All plumbing from mount to oil cooler and from mount to connector to old hose to block ( ran 15 inches of -10 braded line and use a
-10 to 1/2 female to attach to the original hose that goes to the block adapter)

Any ideas as to why me tem is reading this high?
Thanks in advane for you guidance.

Correction. Brown wire with white stripe attahced to sender as original. Ground connected to L bracket on transom. Should the ground also be attached to the sender?

You say you replaced the temp sender at the same time. Do you mean you put the old sender in the new filter mount or you put in a NEW sender. If the sender is new it could be sending the wrong signal. Just a thought. Where is the sender? Before the cooler or after?

I had a similar problem this spring.....turned out to be the wrong sender. The sender and the gauge need to match.....as soon as I got the correct sender in the remote pad, temps went to normal.

Oil Temperature problem solved. Put the old sender back in and the oil temps went back to normal or actually a bit lower. New sender must have had a different calibration than the old one.
Thanks for all the help.

Macdad260 - It looks like the oil goes through the filter mount with the sender and then through the cooler and back to the block.

Glad to hear that the new sender was the problem. It didn't sound like you did anything that would make the oil temp change at all. My sender is in the remote filter housing before the cooler also. Someday I would like to put one after the cooler and rig up a toggle switch to the gauge just to see how effective the cooler is. Maybe this winter if I keep the boat another year.

See ya, Doug
