Default baja 272 power steering tight

wondering how tight other 272;s steering is. Mine is tighter than I think it should be. At slow speeds have to use two hands

You should easily be able to turn the wheel with just your fingers. Given the boat's age I would suspect the steering cable. You could try lubing it but with as old as it is I would toss a new one in.

+1 the cable needs to be replaced if it's original. Just replaced mine this spring, it was tight to port right off the trailer but would loosen up. With the new cable its smoove like budda. One finger operation. It's not very expensive.
