Default Fuel filter location

Are the Merc / Sierra water sep fuel filters rated for before the fuel pump or after? I wanted to use the Sierra 10 Micron after my Holley Dominator pump. Just wanted to make sure the element can handle the 50 PSI as I cannot find any resources rating the flow at any PSI.

Before the fuel pump always. Pressure will force water molecules through the filter.

How much pressure ?

Cause, it's still pressure that puts the fuel thru the seperator and to the pump.....just not as much.

BTW: I ran a big seperator after my Aeromotive 1000 pump for a bunch of years. One year it picked up / held a bunch of water. Okay...a ton of water. Was on a Procharged 502 with the dumb rising rate FMU at that time. Was like 60 or 65 psi. To the OP, it was a Permacool Fuel Filter/Seperator. I used it because of the 1/2" in/outs.

Edit in: I'm not stating this filter is better than any other in this application. I wanted one that was rated for over 50 psi and had 1/2" in outs. Thus why I chose this. I was worried it wouldn't seperate water when used after the pump, but it did.

My experience. Other experiences may vary.

I ran the Aeromotive 100 Micron SS mesh filter before the pump.

Anyhow, experiences can vary.

Always to make sure you have a filter after the pump too because fuel pumps can send their 'inards' to your injectors or carbuetor.....so can flexible fuel lines......and steel one's for that matter.
