144 blower on stock 350
Hello,
Looking for some advice I have an opportunity to get my hands on 2 weiand 144 blowers for cheap. I was wondering if my stock 350 mercruisers could handle them and how much modifications I would have to make. Also is it worth it? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Well, the good thing is that stock 350's are relatively cheap and you have two of them if you scatter one. I believe they are set up with cast pistons and crank, so if you add boost, make sure you don't set it up lean.

Are they complete with all the pulleys, brackets, intake and thermostat housing? If so, put in a A/F meter, convert the carb to boost sensing, lock out timing and don't pound anymore than 5lbs of boost. Enjoy.

I had a 260hp merc 350 with 144 and it lasted 1 year before burning a exhaust valve. Really woke up that little engine. Gained 8 mph. Was running 6lbs boost.
