Mefi 3 ??
Will a MEFI 3 alarm if it cant see the knock sensor, I know it has a wire connected to it. I scanned the starboard motor and it said cant see knock, one beep about every min or so. I cleared the code ran it for about 30-45 min and it came back. Its connected and its a new sensor

In stock apps for MEFI 3 from Mercruiser, I take it is what you have or at least guessing here key on beep for 2 seconds then off is the normal test for start up.
Beep alternates on for one second then off for 3 seconds with a soft alarm below 3000 rpm and a solid horn above 3000 RPMs. These fall under oil pressure, engine temp, Drive lube and sensor fault. Knock sensor is included.

Hi all. New to forum - hope this is the correct thread. MEFI 3 ECM (Delohi 16237009) on a 1999 7.4 MPI.
Getting soft alarm (1 on, 3 off) when I get boat above 3000 RPM. Gauges are normal. Coming back down to idle does not silence alarm (have shut down and restart engine). Back above 3000 RPM and get soft alarm - interesting because most of the stuff I've read indicates horn would go continuous above 3000 RPM.
So, can someone point the in the direction of understanding the algorithm that the ECM uses to generate a soft alarm. Is it call General Warning 1/2? Are there other sensors that will trigger the alarm independent of the ECM?
Thanks!

For MI 3 - General warning 1 is low lube in gear lube bottle or float in the bottle bad or stuck or any related wiring for the bottle and or even related to ECM PIN J1-21
General warning 2 is used for MIE Mercruisers Inboards with transmission for High transmission temps, this can be possible an inboard engine app or the calibrated Mefi 3 ecm for inboards was installed for your I/O OR POSSIBLE the engine has the correct ECM for your app but with a problem / and or short at the ecm pin J1 -22 or any related wiring to that pin connection.
if that is showing codes - general warning 1 and 2 from a scan of the engine - I sure would check the connections and the PINs and any related shorts at the ECM as I mentioned. J1 - 21 and J1 - 22.
Good luck but will add- really not sure you are saying this is what showed on your scan or you are trying to learn what they mean ?
