Default Mystery Piece of Stainless in my Exhaust Tip - please help identify

I found this mystery piece of stainless trapped in my port tailpipe. It is oval shaped and approximately 3.25" X 2.5". Heavily corroded too. It's not out of the tailpipe - way too small. I don't think it would be out of the CMI headers. My best guess it was part of the stainless intermediate y-pipe (non-switchable) that allows the exhaust to go out either straight out or through the bravo transom assembly below the waterline. The vertical part of the y-pipe does have this same oval shape. Anyone ever seen this? Should I be concerned? Thanks.

I think it could be part of the wire mesh inside the rubber exhaust hose. has it ever lost an impeller and gotten hot?

Look inside the tail. There's a short, inner, tube where the water enters that works like a baffle to keep the water going in the right direction.
