I do remember "back in the day" ..If i'm not mistaken ,when lightening first came out they were 995.00 and people were afraid to try the cheap header. I think Stellings were around 3500.00 at the same time.

Would like to dissect one.

Yes but back in the day, Lightening made their headers out of non stainless material. they would rot out in very short time. I think they coated the inside & painted the outside.

I actually do a fair amount of importing/exporting of a lot of different product from Asia, typically by the container. I had my representative go to to the Factory where these are made. He gave me a good report back. I am willing to gamble on it and will keep you posted

So you are saying these are XS headers and made in China. They told me they made this stuff in NC USA and I think use 304 stainless steel.

Did Rich tell you they were made in N.C or packaged in N.C. I am not looking to split hairs, unfortunately those are the rules importers have to play by. I will verify grade of Stainless,

IMO I was willing to do a little research and Gamble simply because I know how much MORE product I have to bring in from Asia just to compete, and I do work on military bases and all of it is manufactured overseas and packaged here and that gets past the AEREA act. But the biggest reason I gambled is I beleive in free enterprise and there is no way that headers should cost this much. I just bought a 4" x 20' stick of 316 stainless 1/8 wall for 580.00

I talked to them 2 years ago over the phone for about an hour min - long story - they were suppose to send me a set but so was another company who makes headers. I had at that time some other marine manifolds and headers along with stock app manifold & riser for big blocks to be tested on a dyno.

I was going to write a story about the findings along with the quality of each header and manifold system plus pricing. Anyways XS and the other did not send me anything so I had to cancel that testing and storyline. XS knew what I was going to do and even said that would be a great way to market their marine headers being knew to the ball game plus so affordable by all.

They also said they were not getting a favorable reviews buy others on performance boats forum as a customer of theirs posted pics and some info about them after his purchase. . Anyways that's the jist plus I asked them a lot of questions to get answers for a story. Thanks not trying to start anything but only going by what I was told and the short of it.

will be very interesting to see how these would work out...not on a boat, but we just bought a set of stainless LS1 headers and Y-pipe to put on my son's camaro, needed to go up to 1 7/8, never heard of the brand, but knew someone who had used them and said they were fine, well they were great, looked great, fit great, the Y-pipe was much nicer than a hooker one we have used in the past at way more $$$$ so sometimes cheaper does not always mean junk...

They also have apparently been making these for a couple of years. So, a. They are getting some practice at making them and b. They havent been driven out of the market by their early product. It would be nice if they would furnish a 5 to 4 inch reducing collector though...and maybe a longer 5 inch dry extension. Or maybe a combo of the 2.
