That makes sense. Besides the forthcoming comments about overweight women, what would cause that to happen on ALL of the seats? Could this boat have sunk?

I have seen some made that way and it's called gathered, liked it and had a L-Shaped seating area in my gibson done that way..

No this is not gathered. This is a flaw in straight, square cushions that are supposed to be smooth. These must have been extremely soaked which allowed the layer of foam under the vinyl to stretch and move.
