Default Odd oil deal

This weekend on the run to NYC races up the hudson I notice that on my port motor that every time I hit a wave on the side that my oil preasure would just for a split secon Drop a couple pounds then come right back up. If I went strait into the wave no problem. Anyone see this happen before? It is possible I am sucking to much oil out of the pan? I have a high volume pump in there. The only other things I could think of was a wire issue or a bad guage or sender. The boat did run like a top other then that one issue.

Do you have a winday tray in your pan. It not only wipes oil from the roatating assembly and prevents the oil from being airated, it also prevents it from sloshing out of the pan.

Your problem sounds elecrical to me. Is there a way you can rig up a mechanical guage and go for a test ride?? That will for sure tell you if it is a problem in the motor or in the guage.

Check I think that is probably the best idea I will just have to get some one to watch it and try and duplicate the problem.

Jon,

That has got to win the prise as that most weird thing I have heard of.

It does sound like a guage or electrical problem.

Something is loose.

Good luck and keep us posted on the fix.

I would bet on a bad gauge. What type of gauges do you have?

Was the pick up welded to the pump just a thought if it fell off the pump can get a little air when it gets choppy out.

Fastboater: Don't say stuff like that Yes the pickup was welded to the pump. If I hit the waves strait on it is not a problem just when I 1/4 them. The guages are Telefles now. I have a new set of Gaffrigs that I could toss in there but want to make that this winters project
