Oil still gets aerated when the engine runs.

Regardless of how they are installed lifters will bleed down after sitting. If they are squeezed gravity takes over. Lifter noise is not a one time occurrence but a repetitive one at cold.

If the manufacture had to start paying labor to fix this crap they would be out of business.
Couldn't agree more. Not to mention the bill for the rest of the top end build!!! Only to have to take everything back apart.

Of course it does but it bleeds out the assembly lube and helps prevent galing inside the body, especially in a dry lifter like a Johnson. I haven't had the clacking issues since doing this. It was something new I tried...always learning and trying new tricks.....

Also broke in with 10W/30 but run with 15/50 Amsoil.

We broke in with 10-30 or 5-30...can't remember. Didn't make a difference.

I have tried everything. Priming with no pushrods while spinning the engine over, one full turn preload 20w50 oil. They still make a little noise till it builds a little heat. I don't know If valve seat pressure has something to do with this? I run 160 on the seat &470 over the nose I just put up with it.

I don't know how they will work with a crazy profile, but worked great with 500 efi cams
In the March 4th article here on OSO called; "Teague on Tech Revisited: Oil, Gears and a Combination Game" I read that even Bob Teague included Johnson lifters as one of the hydraulic roller lifters in his suggestion of lifters...

"Use Johnson Lifters or other high quality lifters that utilize the tie bar design in either generation engine."

I beleive they use crane as does the 500EFI.

I looked up the replacement cost and hope I'm reading it wrong. $100 per lifter?

I vaguely remember reading that Morels where shipped with a protective grease inside the bodies. As we all know, many things come usually with an oil protectant, and some supposedly grease. Wonder if this can be an issue ?
