I met the guy who invented this. he also makes Pistons. Spintron has been around for a while now. I think at least 20 years if I recall correctly. The owner of Spintron started out with 3 as being the tester for whomever wanted to pay for his service - then he started selling them - A nascar team was his 1 st buyer for the machine, I think Comp cams was his next customer. he told me that every Nascar team owns one and some 2 Spintrons - this was 2.5 years ago when we talked in person..

here is the website and Yes to Trend and Diamond Pistons. I would have thought a guy who deals with a lot top names in the race & engine building world that he would not even waste his time with me. I told him what I did and then he started asking me a bunch of questions about marine stuff. he was a cool dude. I had a bunch of piston questions for him. I am sure I ate his lunch with all my questions but really he was cool about it.

I was just reading an article on the spintron at comp cams.

It's my understanding that one doesn't bring "their" engine to be tested, but supplies the intended parts selection to the testing facity for installation on a test mule where lots of sensors are epoxied to the parts, testing commences and the data is collected.

I'd imagine that a cup team, for example, has endless time and budget to test combo after combo to find the best parts selection and setup to maximize their program.

I've seen a company from Indiana on Ebay that sells rebuilt engines and every engine they sell is Spintron tested.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/540-c-i-d-MA...54b362&vxp=mtr

I just checked their ad I see it's SIM tested. I s that the same Spintron?
