I recently replaced my pick-up with a stainless tube with an I.D. of .48 which is just about the same as the I.D. of -10 line. When I hear people talk about 3/8" or 1/2" fuel line I often wonder if they are talking about I.D. or O.D. I always thought -10 line was 5/8" I.D. but everything I have purchased for my set-up in a -10 size measures approx. .48" I.D.

The fitting pictured above is a 3/8 npt to a -10 male. It is a stainless fitting. I machined out the I.D. on the 3/8 npt side to match the -10 side. Then tig welded the .48 I.D. tube onto it. Screws right in with no modifications to the tank. It is pictured next to my original pick-up for comparisons sake. I got the idea from some of Eddie Young's posts on here.

ID.

Rubber line comes in many different OD's. MArine is typically a lot larger OD for the same ID.

Yeh, -10 typically is close to 1/2" ID.

Hadley, that is pretty much what I was planning to do - straight nipple and then a sweeping 90. Did you go with braided lines or something else? I'm thinking that -8 AN should be big enough for my build.

I thought I red somewhere that the AN numbers roughly correspond to 1/16 inch - i.e., -6 is 6/16 or 0.375, -8 is 0.500, #10 is 0.625, etc.

Here are the sizes for the through hole orifices of AN fittings. This is not the "ID" of the AN hose, but the "flare" of an AN fitting. Basically, the hole in the fitting.

-03=.12
-04=.17
-05=.23
-06=.30
-08=.39
-10=.48
-12=.61
-16=.84
-20=1.08
-24=1.31

Better use a air drill and not a cordless or electric.

I am going with the Russell nylon braided hose.

I also thought the AN numbers corresponded to a 1/16 ". I guess not!
