Default Quick Rinda mercruiser question 555 adaptor

I only have the mefi1-4 (10 pin) adaptor for my Rinda scan tool. I want to be able to also read a 555 computer (496 HO).
A buddy's Engine is acting up once a day. Just 1 beep then the port engine cuts out for 1/2 second when running over 3500-4000 rpms. All gauges read fine and performance is fine.

Do I just need the 94006 adaptor or do I also have to upgrade my software?

Thank you in advance.

Roughly how old is your scan tool? You may have to call Rinda direct as they have good phone support.

Yep, just call Rinda. They are excellent and knowing exactly what's needed. You will likely need to give them the Firmware/Version of your Scanner, and know the year of the motor you want to scan.

2.7 and 6.0 are updates for older Diacom units.

This bulletin replaces bulletins 96-9 and 93-23. Destroy these older bulletins.

MerCruiser Scan Tool

Version 4.0
This hand held Scan Tool has been updated for 2001. It can be used on all gasoline MCM/
MIE engines equipped with either the Delco MEFI ECM or the new Mercury PCM 555

Looks like I just need the 94006 adaptor
