Default Am I just hallucinating or being paranoid??

Had a good day out on Saturday. Came back in and did my norm; cleaned up the boat and flushed the motors. Noticed a very faint tick/hiss type sound every so often out of the right motor. (cant hear it with the hatch closed and its very very faint. Labeling it as a tick/hiss because its definitely not the type of bad knocking noise you get when a valve is tapping. I thought it could even sound like a backfire, but never heard a backfire so quiet and nothing acting weird all day that could even think that. I couldn't even pinpoint where it was coming from because it was so faint. Just had the top end redone this season. No running problems, all pressures good, no temps outside of normal. Am I just being paranoid and maybe getting just a normal running noise? I'm curious because I dont recall hearing it out of the left motor, just the right.

I hate those things and the same reason I took mine out and replaced them with flappers that go on the end of the pipes. The noise drove me nuts. Sounds just like the beginning of a rod knock.

It had me worried all week. I left work early on Friday just to get the mechanic to look at it. He knew the second he heard it. I'm tempted to switch to the rubber ones. Thats all I used on my last boat.
