Props Blowing Out - Drive Height? (Pachanga 22)

My drive shower was too long and it came especially close to my Rev4 prop. Trimmed it up and had a lot better performance in regards to slip and blow outs. The Mirage 3 would blow out with the littlest bit of steering input even at just cruising speed. The Rev4 definitely hooks up better for me on my 272.

The first year that I had the boat (7.4 MPI Bravo 3) I could have it trimmed up, WOT and it cornered like it was on rails. That winter I added the drive shower (which I strongly recommend) and I have noticed that in certain turns I get a little blow out -- not a lot but enough to know that it is occurring. If I had to do it all over again- the drive show that I would have selected would have had the pick-up not drilled thru the plate but attached to each side of the drive on the trim tab. bolts.
I will tell you this much about the benefit of the drive shower -- I was amazed after a hard run- I have the boat on a lift - the outdrive was really warm-- NOT BOILING - but you could tell it generated some heat. The drive shower for sure has to reduce the amount of thermal shock the outdrive is experiencing. Also there is NO white chalk build up on the outdrive - looks like it came out of the box.

I owned a P22 for five years with a little more power that you are pushing. They like the Mirage Plus 25P (3 blade). I had mine labbed by BBLADES. I am sure you have it trimmed way to high. You only need to hit the trim buttons a couple times. These are LIGHT boats and the Mirage Plus gives it plenty of bow lift. I read your earlier posts. The spacers in the trim rams are to keep the U-Joint from binding when you use the larger u-joint like on a X-Drive only when you are raising the outdrive when its not running in trailer mode. They serve no purpose while the outdrive is running. I started with a Bravo and switched to an X Drive when I upped the power. They both ran 75mph all day long. These came stock from the factory with cleaver props.

When I had my Velocity (Regal) 23 it liked three blade Mirage much more then a Bravo 1. I talked to a few Pachanga 22 owners and they all said the same. If I recall correctly thecPachanga folks werre running 23 Mirage while the Velocity ran a 25 Mirage with a 454 Mag.

I did run a 25P Mirage Plus 3 blade on it, and it was terrible. It was garbage out of the hole and would blow out easily at higher RPM.
Looks like I need to take a look at my drive shower pickup, and be a lot more stingy with my trim.

Do you have trim tabs, if so where are they when the boat isn't pulling out well with the 3 blades?
I know it's a much different boat, but I just did the alpha to bravo swap on my 22 donzi. I tried any prop I could that was a bigger pitch. I only had the problems you are having when running outboard props without the open center hub. However my boat hated cleaver props. I would blow out if I trimmed more then one or 2 touches. With that issue if I used my tabs at all the prop would grab and Ai would have to slow down until it would grab again.
