Default 06 496 Mag exhaust, stock or not??

Hello everyone! After years of dreaming I am finally in the market for a Baja 242 or 247. I looked at a 06 that I am interested in and I need some help to understand why the exhaust on this boat is different from most of the other ones that I have seen. OE exhaust usually consist of black tubular elbows/riser, this engine has polished elbows (appear to be cast) with a different geometry than the traditional exhaust. It also has a billet machined filter housing that mounts to the exhaust. Current owner is the original owner and stated that the exhaust is original. Unfortunately, I have not been able to figure out how to upload pics so I guess I need to simplify my question to if there were any exhaust options on the 496 Mag that could explain this? Boat does have the corsa quick and quiet plus exhaust. Any help to get this clarified would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I believe that the risers are actually coated stainless steel from the factory. I have see some guys polish them.

There were no options from Merc. Early year 496's had aluminum manifolds vs later cast iron but the painted black stainless risers were the same.

The above pic is my 06 496. Stock risers and manifolds minus the paint.

Looks to be a Dana Marine exhaust setup. Definately not stock merc. Congrats, that is a very nice setup and a nice upgrade over stock.

they also added riser extension blocks to raise riser installed height to help against water revision and to help against that from the heft that hangs out on the swim platform at rest, but mainly had to so they would install & align in the same position as the transom cut outs from the stock exhaust set up

Was it a saltwater or freshwater boat? Dana is a good exhaust. Still recommend taking a riser off to check and inspect for rot.

I would also run a "big filter" on the 496 like any of these:
K&N: hp-3002
Napa: 1060
Wix: 51060

LOL. Another owner that doesn't know what they have or what's been done.

And yes, as mentioned, that is a Dana Marine exhaust system. Was a popular upgrade.
